There was an excellent result for the year 10 boys team who beat Blyth Academy last Thursday away in the county cup, 3-0. Mitchell S scored two goals and an excellent strike from Nathan B eased CLV into the next round – well done to all involved.

The U16 girls team had a monumental game against Trinity School from Carlisle in their third round tie of the National Cup. Trinity scored twice against the run of play, but Jade D scored to take it to 2-1. Trinity then scored again to go 3-1 up. The CLV team showed great resilience pulling the game back to 3-3 with goals from Chloe D and another from Jade D. With 4 minutes to play another goal from Chloe D put CLV in the driving seat, but Trinity showed some great determination scoring with 90 seconds to play leaving the game at 4-4 taking the game into extra time.
A tense extra time ended goalless, with neither side able to produce the decisive winner, leaving the game to a penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Brooke M produced two fantastic saves to deny Trinity’s first two attempts with Jade D and Ella R scoring for CLV. Sarah S (captain) then stepped up and scored to put the pressure firmly on Trinity who went onto miss their next attempt giving CLV a very hard fought but well deserved win.  Well done to the team who gave their all,  a superb result.
