School Travel

We are committed to promoting safe, sustainable and accessible travel for all members of our school community. Our approach is to encourage responsible travel choices that support the well-being of our students, staff, and the wider community, while also reducing environmental impact. Through our school travel plan we aim to:

  • Promote sustainable modes of transport such as walking, cycling, and public transport
  • Reduce traffic congestion and maintain safety around the school site
  • Encourage healthy and active lifestyles through active travel options.

Travel across Cramlington and beyond is possible through a cycleway network. The latest cycle count in October 2025 showed that 271 pedal cycles were parked at school.

A useful way to plan how to get to and from Cramlington Learning Village is to compare local bus, walking and cycling routes. We have published travel advice for students, staff, and our community, with a focus on safety.

When assessing our school travel plan targets, we collect data from students through a ‘hands up survey’ in partnership with Modeshift when students are asked how they travelled to school that day. The table below shows the latest results for our school compared to national statistics. It shows that 62% of students used active travel, an increase on previous surveys. As a result, less students travelled by road.
