Sarah Moore Fitzgerald joins us for The Big Read

Y7 students celebrated Big Read Week with an author event with the prize-winning Irish author, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald who visited us to promote her latest book, The Shark and the Scar.

Sarah’s new book is a dark and gripping thriller with a twist that even the sharpest reader just won’t see coming. It’s a big-hearted story of lies, family secrets, surfing…and shark attacks.  Sarah also read from another recent book, All the Money in the World, a superb rags to riches story about kindness and friendship.  Our students had so many questions for Sarah that the session flew over but not before Sarah had shared her creative writing tips and some brilliant reading recommendations.   The book signing queue stretched right around the Biome after the event, proof of just how popular Sarah and her books are with our students.

As well as being a writer, Sarah is a University lecturer in Psychology and Education in Dublin and was full of praise for our school:

“This was a truly wonderful, life-affirming visit and such a lovely way to end the tour.   It was fantastic to get that warm welcome from all of your brilliant students who had so many interesting questions. This is my third visit to CLV, a hugely creative learning environment where students are readers and teachers are superb.”

Thanks to Hachette Publishers for funding the visit and to Forum Books for organising books for sale and signing.
