Cramlington students take part in Real Voice Project

Our year 9 Music students have recently had the opportunity to work with Helix Arts on a project called Real Voice. Visiting artist Becky Owen worked with our year 9 music classes to create a collaborative song. From this we selected to of our students; Verity and Billie, who showed a talent for song writing. These two students went on to work with another local artist Katie Dougherty, to work on their own material and perform and the final Real Voice Showcase.

Real Voice was an inclusive, new and exciting youth music project for Northumberland. Working with young people to give them the opportunity to develop new music skills, increase self-esteem and have fun. Real Voice allowed participants to amplify their voice through music and tell the local community about what mattered to them. Supporting young people to build confidence, develop skills and interests, motivate and stretch abilities, the project developed regular music engagement and activity with professional musicians, and encouraged audiences for their work.

Thank you to everyone involved with the Real Voice project, Helix Arts, filmmaker Gary Malkin and to our amazing students who took part.
