On Tuesday 1st July 40 Year 8 students took part in Jamie Oliver’s Guinness World Record Attempt for the largest cookery lesson across multiple venues – the previous record was set in Poland in 2015 with 6,778 participants across 89 schools.
Our Year 8 students were tasked with each making homemade pasta served with a tomato, garlic and basil sauce topped with parmesan cheese. They were counted down by Jamie Oliver himself before taking part in a live, 1-hour, online cooking lesson fronted by some of the best chefs at Jamie Oliver’s Cookery School.
There was a brilliant energy in the room as students were enthusiastic, focused and most importantly enjoying themselves! They demonstrated some excellent practical skills as well as teamwork and communication.
After just over an hour every student had a delicious bowl of pasta which they tucked into together and enjoyed for lunch.
I can also proudly say that our students helped smash the world record! A total of 10,515 participants, across 6 continents and 42 countries! A huge congratulations to each and everyone of our amazing students!
