Students raise £1600 for good causes

During the summer term, once again staff and students came together to complete a sponsored charity run in aid of two charities. Cancer Research UK and Jessica’s Sarcoma Awareness have been supported for the past few years as a result of hosting the Race for Life on our school grounds.

The 5KM course weaves its way around the campus with fun runners and competitive athletes all raising funds for these two worthwhile causes.  As usual, some students stride away and push for impressive times whilst the three legged teams surprisingly take a little longer! This year once again, we were impressed with how many students gave up their free time to take part in the run and support these two great causes.

Supporting us on the day was Jessica’s Sarcoma Awareness, represented by former student Jessica Robson’s mum Julie who was on hand to give medals out at the finishing line to all runners.Student at the finishing line of a race

We recently handed over £600 to Cancer Research UK  and two of our runners, Megan and Owen – both yr8 students,  handed a cheque for £1000 to Jessica’s Sarcoma Awareness.
